Motorcycles have been gaining back the popularity they once had years ago. As recently as thirty years back, motorcyclists were considered by the mainstream to represent a counterculture, with a private language and dark symbols representative of its unsavory members.
In today’s society, motorcycles, as well as tattoos and leather apparel, are considered relatively commonplace. Bikers are sometimes known for looking fierce and unfriendly. The truth is that even the most grizzled biker is likely to be a good citizen. There is one place, however, where deaths and trouble is running rampant within the biking world. We’re speaking of not wearing motorcycle helmets when they ride.
It’s a well known issue that several bikers simply will not wear a motorcycle helmet. Every year many lives are lost or ruined due to this tragic oversight. Everybody out on the road, regardless of the two wheeled or four wheeled vehicle of their choice, is impacted negatively by road accidents. We’re hoping that more and more people will wear helmets when they ride motorcycles, now that information is getting out about how dangerous a motorcycle accident can be. Although for now, all we can do is hope that the safety conscious riders will continue to wear the proper safety equipment out on the road. People who don’t like bulky helmets may choose motorcycle helmets that are open faced for a better sense of freedom.
Biking has long been a tradition in the celebration of freedom and individuality while expressing it on an open highway. It helps you relax and stick your nose up at the bourgeoisie. While this freedom and individuality is highly valued and we wish to encourage its free expression, we also hope that bikers will understand the value of wearing the proper safety gear, especially helmets.
